Reunion of dreams ☁️

Life’s little pieces.

Life’s little pieces.

Disparity.

I was about to give up on this honey 🍯

I did that white circle on layer 3 and came back into the house later to see it hanging up on the wall in the dark and decide I was super freaked out. I wanted to cover it asap but life did what it does and I didn’t get a painting opportunity for a couple of weeks. As time passed, I fell in love with it and was nervous to paint over it.

Layer 4 came out psychedelic which I both loved and hated.

And then I covered too much of the colours with layer 5 but if I’m going to overdo it with anything then gold would definitely be my choice.

I’m done with this baby for now, ready to move onto something new. My mom gave it the name Disparity. I liked it because I’d never heard of the word before and it’s descriptive of a theme that comes up for me often.

Disparity is double-sided treatment, especially in an unfair sense. It’s the blinding poverty in South Africa and across the planet. The socio-economic inequality not only between rurality and suburbia but also between the working class and the first class.

Disparity is Leonardo DiCaprio preaching his scripts to the commoners about climate crisis while he lives one of the most lavish, self-indulgent, and luxurious lives out there.

It’s the different set of laws that apply to g*vernment officials and the society of ultra high net worth individuals who circulate wealth amongst themselves in astronomical numbers that could solve our world hunger problem.

The economic gap between each class is based on education, network, and resources. Disparity is this system that is structured to keep the majority of our population living off the scraps of everyone else because they have almost zero access to basic needs. People who live on the streets surrounded by a culture indoctrinated to believe that their human rights are privileged opportunities reserved for those who can prove their worth by complying to the status quo.

One that requires us to accept that some people must eat out of the trash bags because our powers that be are still working hard to allocate our taxes toward change that should’ve and could’ve happened a long time ago.

My honeybee baby is 3 🐝

Three years of tear jerking cuteness and the deepest happiness. Oh how I love and adore this child more than words could ever suffice. Kind, goofy, emotionally in tune, crazy intelligent, heartbreakingly beautiful, my blue-eyed bundle of sweet perfection.

She loves to change her outfit 5 times a day and honestly her fashion choices are ingenious. She loves variety, don’t give the girl the same breakfast two days in a row, she too boujee for that. She loves the sun and listening to the birds singing. She loves to sing herself and she’s a singer down to her DNA, always belting out lyrics that kind of sound like the song or making up her own. She demands presence and tells me to put my phone down while I play with her. She’s a deep thinker, always surprising me with how she interprets things. My little cuddle buddy who gives the best and most heartwarming hugs in this whole universe, she makes it hard to let go and I want to keep her close forever.

Most of all, she’s pure - so pure, it’s magical. She’s absolute goodness and innocence, a reminder to me that we are born angelic.

I am so grateful to have this baby girl in my life. The moment she was born, my eyes were opened to our true purpose on this planet. Everything else is secondary, all the rest is in service of this core connection we share and the future I want to build for her.

When she was born, who I was died and I have never looked back on the girl that now lives in the past. Misguided at most and so perplexed I was about the meaning of life. But to now have my daughter is to have a reason, direction, an unlimited well of love, fortitude, and inspiration to draw from.

I thank the powers that be that you showed up in my world when you did and shifted the axis of everything I knew. You have been the powerful force that woke me up, grounded me, and aligned me with the change I was begging for but unable to achieve on my own.

I love you a million times and more, Aletheia Mae Ora. My heart sings for you always and it is the most wonderful thing to be your mother.

Thank you for being so perfectly you and thank you for loving me the way you do 💞

An unsettling reach into the purity of the past arouses a disillusioned recollection of the comforts once known. Gilded and reorganised to leave out the lesser loved details. But remembrance is soothed by satisfactions known now. Hopes that took shape and became life, only to make space for new dreams to sprout and take root. This relentless yearning of the human spirit, trapped between the cravings for misinterpreted memories and desires that contour the future. But all aching holds the common thread of connection, wanting for heart to heart moments. Most at home in happiness when it is shared amongst the souls we live this era with.

When I opened my Substack account, I was SUPER excited.

But it’s been two months (maybe more) and I’ve only done two entries.

I keep sitting on my work. I wrote this ages ago and haven’t been able to bring myself to release it.

A part of me feels like my writing is way too personal and maybe not as interesting as I might think.

But then I remind myself that I called it a public diary because that’s exactly what it is.

Here is an excerpt:

A really cool artist whom I can’t recall the name of said in an interview, “Worry is just a longer route to the same destination.”

I never forgot that and I would like to express a similar concept, “Not planning is the desert hot exhausting detour with barely any water or nice trees to look at that takes you to the wrong destination.”

A word of advice… you absolutely can pour your heart and soul into something and still fail. Especially if you don’t have a strategy.

Life is always more complex than what Instagram makes it seem - there were tears, frustrations, and beautiful celebrations inbetween these moments.

But challenges are a part of the process and offer opportunities to let go and grow so why not cherish them just as much as the good memories.
